These changes provide new benefits for MNU's wide array of customers including business, student and leisure travelers to name a few. Here are some of the features available effective May 12, 2008:
- Coinsurance will be waived for claims incurred within the PPO inside US and Canada
Coinsurance will be waived for claims incurred within the PPO if expenses are submitted to Underwriters for review and payment directly to the provider.
If you visit outside PPO Network then after deductible, you are responsible to pay 20% and plan pays 80% of covered medical expenses of next $5,000. Then, plan pays 100% of covered medical expenses up to policy maximum.
- No Co-insurance outside US and Canada
After deductible, plan pays all the covered medical expenses up to policy maximum.
- Acute Onset of Pre-existing condition coverage
If you are under age 70, you are covered for an Acute Onset of a Pre-existing Condition. Coverage is available up to $15,000 Maximum for Eligible Medical Expenses and up to $25,000 for Emergency Medical Evacuation. An Acute Onset of a Pre-existing Condition is a sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence of a Pre-existing Condition which occurs spontaneously and without advance warning either in the form of Physician recommendations or symptoms. Treatment must be obtained within 24 hours of the sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence.
- Incidental Home Country Coverage
The incidental home country coverage of 15 days for each three months of coverage is now offered to non- U.S. citizens in addition to US citizens.
The plan now provides political evacuation coverage to the nearest safe country in the event of a government issued travel warning.
Other General Benefits
For USA, PPO Network is provided by "Hygeia Network". If you go within PPO network then provider will do direct billing with Insurance company. Then Insurance company will send you the bill later to you to get deductible, co-insurance... etc. You can view this network online.
Outside USA, this plan also have PPO network internationally.
- Network Negotiated Fee (NNF) for medical treatment within PPO Network
When you go within PPO network, you will be charged Network Negotiated Fee (NNF) medical treatments because those provider are under the contract with "First Health Network". This fee is also known as discounted fee in many cases.
After your initial purchase, you may extend your coverage (5 day minimum) up to a maximum of 12 months from the initial effective date. Provided there is no break in coverage, you will not be required to re-satisfy the Deductible and Coinsurance nor will benefit limits be reset.
If you are covered under Atlas International, after 12 months of continuous coverage you may renew your coverage for up to 12 additional months. If 24 months of continuous coverage is maintained, a final period of up to 12 months may be purchased. Deductible and Coinsurance must be re-satisfied as of each renewal date.
After 36 months of continuous coverage under Atlas International, or 12 months of continuous coverage under Atlas America, or any break in coverage, a new plan must be purchased. A new Application is required and you must re- satisfy your Deductible, Coinsurance and Pre-existing Condition provisions.
